Y’allywood returns to Madison this week for Sweet Magnolias filming
This week Madison’s Town Park will be transformed and closed off for a popular Netflix series film shoot for the show “Sweet Magnolias.”
The show is currently filming its third season, slated to film scenes in Town Park beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 10. On Thursday, Aug. 11, scenes will also be filmed in the alley beside Sage + Stone Salon off West Washington Street and inside Merchants Hall.
“Sweet Magnolias Productions, in association with Netflix and the City of Madison, is currently scheduled to film their third season and are excited to come to Madison to film scenes for their upcoming episodes,” said a release from the City of Madison.
Town Park will be closed to the public during filming days.
“Sweet Magnolias”’ new season, starring Brooke Elliott, Heather Headley and Joanna Garcia-Swisher, does not have an official premiere date. The show follows the lives of three South Carolina women, who have been best friends since high school. “They shepherd one another through the complexities of romance, career, and family,” according to the show’s summary. The show serves up creative plotlines rife with drama and romance, hooking viewers with twists and turns as three lovable friends navigate life together.
The lead characters Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen left viewers with several cliffhangers at the end of Season Two, with fans anxious to see what comes next for their lives. Viewers will also catch a glimpse of Madison .
