Great barracuda Swimming, Snorkeling and Diving to See and Observe the Great barracuda The great barracuda is found in all oceans and seas in tropical environments, except for the Eastern Pacific. It swims at speeds of 40 km/h when on a hunt or when it feels threatened. The barracuda is a day hunter. It has a developed sight, which can spot prey within 100 m. It can live for 15 years. The great barracuda can reach a length of 2 m and a weight of 40 kg.
The barracuda is recognizable by its elongated shape, a silver-grey body with black stripes. It may seem impressive due to a very apparent dentition, but it does not represent any danger for the diver!
When they reach adulthood, they become solitary and live a solitary life in open waters. They can migrate over several hundred miles. CHECK SEASONALITY Sphyraena barracuda
