Spring road trip in Florida; Any Recommendations for a group of 3 women making a trip across Florida this spring? Looking for some neat places or experiences along the way ☺️ TIA!
If you’d like a really worthwhile trip, I’d considering taking the long way and going closer to the coast. Central Florida and the inner panhandle are not going to have a lot of the more interesting stuff.
Florida resident here! Depends on 1) what you want 2) interests
If you’ll be in Orlando . It’s about 45mins-1.5 going to the beach. ( Daytona or cocoa beach ) St. Pete/ Tampa area is about 2 hrs drive. And you have more restaurants to choose from. They have nice beaches too. Sarasota if you want to just chill. Try siesta key. Miami/Palm beach/ Boca area if you want to shop (High end/outlet mall and restaurants ) and yep beach party. St.Augustine for historical sites. Then you have Ocala for natural springs. And oh yeah…Destin for the beaches as well
How long do you have for the road trip? Will you be staying in hotels or camping?
I did a Florida road trip solo last spring and it was great. I took a month. Florida has great state parks. I got a annual state park pass and hit as many as I could.
I recommend staying off the interstates and staying close the the coast. Stop at things that look interesting.
My highlights: St Andrew’s State Park. Apalachicola – Cool “small town” downtown area. St George Island State Park. Topsail Hill State Park. Wakulla Springs State Park – Where Creature From the Black Lagoon was filmed. I saw a manatee here. Crystal River – Swim with manatees! St Augustine – Do the trolley tour. Gaterland was cool. Biscayne Bay – Snorkel the coral reefs. Everglades – Kayak through the mangroves. Take an airboat ride looking for alligators.
