Cooking 101: Simple Steps for the Perfect Rotisserie Chicken Dinner

Skip store-bought rotisserie chicken! This protein-packed dinner is easy-to-make at home, just follow these simple steps to make a rotisserie chicken dinner from start to finish in your Kalorik Maxx Oven with the Kalorik MAXX “Boast Your Roast” 2-Piece Rotisserie Set.

Trussing Your Chicken
First, you’ll want to truss the chicken. When you truss a chicken, you tie the chicken snugly with butcher’s twine so that the wings and legs stay close to the body. Butcher’s twine is plain, unbleached cotton twine that’s strong enough to hold a chicken together, but won’t burn, melt, or otherwise ruin your chicken. Trussing keeps the chicken compact, allowing it to spin easily and cook evenly in your Kalorik MAXX Oven, giving you juicy white meat and tender thighs and drumsticks.
You’ll need a few things before you get started:
– Five-pound chicken, giblets removed and patted dry
– Salt and additional seasonings to taste
– 2 ½ foot length of butcher’s twine
– A sharp knife or pair of scissors
– Rotisserie spit
– Rotisserie forks

First, take your butcher’s twine and find the center.

Starting from the top, slide the middle of the twine down to just under the wings.

Cross the twine over the top of the breasts.

Bring the strings down and cross the twine under the tip of the breasts. Loop the twine around the top of the legs and cross around the back. Wrap the drumsticks several times until firmly secure.

Tie the legs together with a double knot. Trim off any extra twine with scissors.

Your chicken should look like this – wings tucked in and legs secured.

Insert the rotisserie spit by passing the spit through the center cavity.

Install the fork onto the end of the breast, secure the forks by pushing them fully into the meat and tightening the screw until just finger tight. Try not to overtighten.

Turn the chicken to work with the legs. Secure the rotisserie forks into the drumstick meat, using the butcher’s twine to assist you in holding the legs onto the forks. Tighten the screw of the second fork. Now, you’re ready to make your rotisserie chicken!

Carefully install the rotisserie rod into your oven, with the long end on the right, setting the shorter end into the rotisserie hook.

Activate the rotisserie function on your Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Oven.

Watch the first few rotations to make sure your chicken doesn’t touch any of the heating elements. If your chicken touches the heating elements, don’t worry, simply reposition the forks so that the chicken spins evenly and avoids the heating elements.

Once cooking is complete, remove your rotisserie spit with the rotisserie handle.

Allow your chicken to rest for five to ten minutes before removing the forks and spit. Remove carefully as the spit, forks and screws may still be very hot.

Reheating Rotisserie Chicken
The best part about making a rotisserie chicken dinner is the leftovers! #MAXXMade rotisserie chicken can be stored in your fridge in a covered container for up to four days. To give your leftovers a second life, you can roast them in your MAXX at 350°F for approximately 20 minutes. Or, for extra-crispy skin, air fry your chicken at 350°F for 3 to 4 minutes.
