Ashley Campbell shares holiday memories
Growing up, Ashley Campbell and her brothers had a plan – to catch Santa Claus. Campbell, an aspiring country singer and the daughter of country great Glen Campbell, said she and her brothers would set traps for St. Nick made of wires, strings and nets.
“I put treats out so he would get caught and then we all slept on the chairs around it so he couldn’t get away,” Campbell said, explaining their plan never worked. “We never caught him and he never woke up. It was a Christmas miracle.”
These days Campbell’s Christmases are lower key. She makes dinner and uses the day to relax. But she said she started listening to Christmas music just after Thanksgiving, including her father’s Christmas album that includes “Winter Wonderland.” When Campbell sat down to play some Christmas music, she said “Winter Wonderland” just “came out.”
Campbell, along with a bluegrass band, shared her version of “Winter Wonderland” for the last installment of The Tennessean’s Christmas Music video series. She also shared an update on her father’s health. To see the video, visit www.tennessean.com/music.
