Well, now it’s apparently common knowledge, but it wasn’t for each guy I told, when I told them! Privately they have all come and thanked me later and most have reported success. One was on SSRI antidepressants that totally killed his libido and his functioning. He started supplementing with L-Arginine and gushed to me like a year later that I saved his relationship with his girlfriend (now his wife). Another of my friends is a body builder and fitness model (wow, this makes me sound way cooler than I am — weird) so he knew the benefits of supplementing but not about L-Arginine’s other benefits. Yet another friend has told me (and so has my boyfriend, not that I wouldn’t have noticed myself!) that the quantity and quality of his, uh, emissions is increased by L-Arginine supplementation.
I discovered, over time, that L-Arginine has a lot of other health benefits (due to the way it acts on nitric oxide in the body… go figure! jk!). It ALSO has the power to be female Viagra (but back then I really didn’t have any problems in that department; my antidepressants were not SSRIs) so, ladies, help yourself.
We’re all 10+ years older now and by all reports, L-Arginine seems to help a lot — even me. I’m 45 now and have no evidence (yet) of menopause. But I’m also tireder now, and I notice when I don’t take L-Arginine, I become pretty uninterested in “things.”
HOWEVER… keep in mind that L-Arginine can NOT fix or cure (or prevent, for that matter) the way chronic health problems like hypertension and diabetes affect ALL your parts. If you don’t take your meds, don’t check your blood sugar, don’t make sure you’re eating right and getting physical activity, L-Arginine isn’t going to perform miracles for you. You’re still going to have problems and they will get worse over time, no matter how much L-Arginine you take, as long as you ignore them or fail to comply with your treatment plan. Don’t take L-Arginine *instead* of your meds… take your meds AND L-Arginine, check and manage your BP and sugar, stay active and eat right, and you should do okay.
What we like about these is that, if you can’t take large pills or you want to put the supplement in food, you can take apart the capsules and pour the powder into your drink or your food. You can’t do that with tablets unless you crush them but most of them have a coating that makes crushing them difficult and adds additives you don’t need.
